Strong Communities Start With Supported Parents
A Drink, a Dollar, and a Brighter Future with Dutch Bros

At Prevent Child Abuse Utah, we know that building brighter futures for children takes a community effort. That’s why we’re excited to partner for the third time with Dutch Bros Coffee for a Give Back 4 Kids Day, where every drink purchased at any Dutch Bros location in Utah will help support children and families across our state. For every drink sold, Dutch Bros will donate $1 to Prevent Child Abuse Utah, helping us continue our mission of preventing child abuse and strengthening families.
What is Give Back 4 Kids Day?
Each year, Dutch Bros operators select nonprofit partners that are making a meaningful difference in the community. For the third time, Dutch Bros 35 locations across the state of Utah have come together and chosen Prevent Child Abuse Utah as their beneficiary.
“We’re all about serving people and trying to make a difference in the world,” said Mark Essey, Dutch Bros Operator for five Utah locations. “Prevent Child Abuse Utah is helping kids right here in our own comminty to stay safe from abuse. Dutch Bros wants to contribute to the future by helping to protect kids”.
Meet Mark Essey
Mark Essey has been a part of the Dutch Bros organization for 16 years. He’s a husband, father of two, and Utah resident for the past six years. Essey currently operates Dutch Bros locations in Heber, Midvale, Sandy, and Murray.
Essey’s Dutch Bros journey began unexpectedly. After being laid off from a sales position in Oregon, Mark ran into an old friend at a football game who encouraged him to apply at Dutch Bros. “I don’t even drink coffee,” Mark laughed. He started working nights, eventually becoming an assistant manager, then a shop manager in Junction City, Oregon. From there, he advanced to regional leadership roles and later helped bring Dutch Bros to Utah. Today, Mark continues to lead with the same passion that first drew him to the company: creating meaningful connections with people. He’s also become a coffee fanatic.

We asked Mark what makes Dutch Bros different, and his answer goes beyond the drinks. “You can get coffee anywhere,” he said. “The difference is that at Dutch Bros, there’s an energy, a vibe, and most of all, exceptional customer service.”
Dutch Bros is known for its commitment to creating positive customer experiences, something they call “Radiating Kindness.” Team members strive to make every interaction count, even if it is only for a few moments. That focus on kindness and connection is one reason the partnership with Prevent Child Abuse Utah feels like a natural fit.
So, Why Prevent Child Abuse Utah?
When searching for an organization to support, Essey knew their goal was to help Utah’s children. After learning more about Prevent Child Abuse Utah and attending the annual Golf Tournament, he was inspired by both the need and the impact that Prevent Child Abuse Utah is making on the community. “The facts and statistics that were displayed around the golf course about child abuse really hit home,” he said. “The people, the energy, the mission…it really stuck with me.”
