A safe school is built on preparation.

Schools already have routines and plans in place to help keep students safe—from emergency procedures and staff training to everyday lessons that help children make good decisions. Safety education belongs in that routine, too.

Prevent Child Abuse Utah has been working with Utah schools and communities for more than 40 years to help protect children through prevention education. Our age-appropriate curriculum was developed with Utah families, educators, and students in mind, and our school-based programs are approved and funded by the Utah State Board of Education.

As the Utah State Board of Education’s Primary Provider of child abuse prevention education, we are proud to partner with schools across Utah to help create safer environments for students. Our K–6 curriculum is designed specifically to help children learn safety rules, including how to recognize unsafe situations, understand appropriate boundaries, and identify trusted adults they can turn to for help.

Safe: Give Students Tools They Can Use

Our goal is to help children understand how to recognize, resist, and report situations that may be unsafe.

Our USBE-approved curriculum is age-appropriate for students in kindergarten through sixth grade, with lessons designed with child development in mind.

When students know what to look for, who they can turn to, and what they can do when something doesn’t feel right, they have real tools that can help keep them safe.
