SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (Good Things Utah) – April is Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month. In an effort to spread awareness and help educate the community on how to help prevent and stop abuse from evening happening, Good Things Utah has partnered with Prevent Child Abuse Utah and NAACP Salt Lake Branch in April to create better awareness.

Prevent Child Abuse Utah is a local nonprofit organizations that works to prevent child abuse through its local school-based prevention education program. PCAU has been teaching child abuse prevention in Utah schools for more than 40 years with the help of skilled, trained prevention educators who go into the schools each week to teach children, parents, and educators on how to recognize, resist, and report child abuse.

This year, the state legislature passed SB205, funding child abuse prevention education for K-6th grade students. In the years to come, more and more of Utah’s school communities will receive this vital information, thanks to the hard work of various abuse prevention programs located throughout Utah and the dedication of The Policy Project, the group that spearheaded the legislative effort with SB205 – Utah Cares About Prevention!
