School Presentations

In-school programs are FREE, age appropriate and typically taught in the classroom with visual aids, videos and other interactive activities such as role playing. The programs also teach adult community members how to prevent child abuse, how to identify signs of possible abuse and how to report abuse.

Preventing Child Sexual Abuse

Utah Educators Course

This training teaches adults who work with youth to recognize the signs, symptoms and dynamics of child abuse including physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse and neglect. Perpetrators, the grooming cycle and how to report suspected abuse are also discussed. This course meets the requirements of Utah’s Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Training Law (53G-9-207).

PreventING Child Sexual Abuse

For Parents

This training teaches parents how to prevent child sexual abuse by identifying grooming behaviors and tactics used by perpetrators. Parents also learn how to respond to disclosures of sexual abuse, in addition to reporting suspected abuse. This course meets the requirements of Utah’s Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Training Law (53G-9-207).

Yes. The presence of the teacher allows for presentation evaluation and feedback, as well as the opportunity to reinforce the concepts that the students are learning. Teachers who participate in the prevention education become important advocates not only for the children they work with, but also for the Prevent Child Abuse Utah prevention programs. When a child sees that his/her teacher is involved and committed to the discussion, open and honest lines of communication are created between the child and teacher. This is very important in the event that a child discloses abuse to a teacher.

Our classroom presentations take place over the course of two consecutive days (Monday & Tuesday or Wednesday & Thursday). The times and number of visits to each class vary for each grade as follows:

One Visit

Kindergarten: 30 mins
First Grade: 45 mins
Jr High: 45-60 mins
High School 45-60 mins

Two Visits

Second Grade: 40 mins
Third Grade: 45 mins
Fourth & Fifth Grade: 50 mins
Sixth Grade: 60 mins
